Today we’re going behind the ‘screens’ as we speak to our Senior UX/UI Designer, Mark, about his role here at Together, some of the projects he’s been involved with and his thoughts on trends and the future of UX/UI. Let’s jump into the world of digital design.
“I am Mark, a Senior UX/UI Designer and Creative here at Together. I collaborate with the teams across all disciplines from social to packaging and even photography and video. However, my home is in the digital space focusing on UX and UI and this is where I’ve primarily been for at least the last 10 years.”
“From a UX/UI perspective, it would have to be the Sciensus project. Sciensus is a leading pharmaceutical supplier, their challenge was how they remain relevant and modern in an ever-changing industry.
I was involved in the project from the start, creating user personas and mapping user journeys all the way through to the wireframing/prototyping and the final interface design. It was great to see the project from all angles. A key part of this project was being able to collaborate with Sciensus to get feedback from the users and understand all the pain points. User feedback really made the difference in being able to produce a design that not only helps the medication deliveries but also the overall understanding of users’ symptoms and the benefits treatment has for them. This information was vital to capture to help treat the end user and also build out the interface for them and future patients. The Sciensus project was truly fulfilling and was great to be involved from start to finish to see how we helped the end users.
Another project that springs to mind was for Center Parcs. Although this project had nothing to do with UX or UI, I got to go along and help produce social content for their Instagram profile. We got to do a lot of the activities whilst showcasing the experiences and choices of accommodation. We produced some pretty cool video content and had some great fun whilst we did it, which is always a bonus!”
“The main thing is to understand the user. Everything you do must be focused on that end user. The clue is in the name; without thinking about the user, it just becomes an Interface (I) or an experience (X). Knowing what the user needs and how they will see it will be the blueprint of how you can formulate and design the output.
If the user can use the product efficiently and enjoys it because it's simple and it's visually appealing, then I’d say it’s a good bit of UX/UI.”
“The ‘emerging’ trends and changes aren’t necessarily new but I’m interested and excited to see the progress on a few different technologies. The first is the step forward in 3D work, whether it is augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR). A lot of these tools are becoming accessible to a base-level user now, allowing people who have creative ideas to be able to push the boundaries. Whereas before 3D was a highly skilled area of production that a lot of people weren’t able to get into. It’s going to be interesting to see from an interface perspective how things generate within that 3D world.
This coincides nicely with Apple releasing their Vision Pro; it’ll be interesting to see how these products overcome a lot of issues around accessibility for users as they utilise hand gestures and voice recognition. Again from an interface perspective, it’ll be interesting to see how this rolls out across the VR and AR space but also across platforms and devices in general. The whole idea is making this tech as accessible as possible so anyone can use it, so that’s definitely one to keep a close eye on.
Then we have the hot topic across industries; AI. I’m really hoping that with AI taking these leaps forward it can start helping us to address accessibility and personalisation across digital experiences. AI could be useful in helping those who may have difficulties understanding or seeing things to produce content in a different way that is digestible for them. Mix this with the growing need for sustainability. If we can get AI to help us tackle these pain points in the digital space we could see it help us save a lot of energy whilst including more people.”
“I have spoken a lot about the positives of AI helping us but there are a lot of people out there who think AI will be able to do all this without the need of a human, which I don’t think is possible anytime soon. To produce good digital experiences we need to use empathy and understanding of users in depth, which AI isn’t able to yet do.
Also, human creativity needs to evolve to be kept alive! Many great designers out there produce some wonderful digital experiences and products and we need to keep this going. I’m hoping with the Apple Vision Pro people will get excited again to experiment and create new designs in this space without having to wear them all the time!”

With over 1 billion active users worldwide, TikTok offers a huge opportunity for brands to engage creatively with their audiences. The app, with its highly engaging short-form video format, is especially effective at humanising your brand and reaching younger demographics in a fun and authentic way. However, creating content that resonates on TikTok can be challenging, particularly if you’re unsure where to begin.
